Footage from TV Cultura (Brazilian TV channel) archive which shows the protest-show staged by Zuzu at the Brazilian Embassy on the United States. Fashion show that, besides bringing attention to the disappearance of her son Stuart Angel Jones, served as a way for Zuzu to report the abuse being applied by the military regime as well as claiming the right to bury her son. The footage doesn’t contain any audio, is approximately 3’19’’ long and shows the entire show: from Zuzu’s arrival, accompanied by her models, to the show’s final moments, when she wore a long black dress.

Photographic record of mourning dress displayed at the “Zuzu Angel – I am Brazilian fashion” exhibition, held from august 31st and October 8th 2006, at the “Museu Histórico Nacional” (National Historic Museum), Rio de Janeiro.

Pantaloons made of pure silk muslin in black, with tiled silk in circle shapes in jaguar pattern. The piece has elastic waist band and the hemline has a hand sewn seam.

Zuzu mourning belt: Metal belt with a chain, hoops, 2 buoy latches and crucifixes in two sizes: 0,05 cm and 0,07 cm. The word “Fátima” is written on the back of the smaller crucifix. Along the chain, the crucifixes alternate sizes, side by side. At the center of the belt, the crucifixes are arranged in a gradual manner, getting bigger on the center.

Silver necklace with flowers and a porcelain angel in: white, pink, blue, green and orange. The angel is proned at the center of the piece, which is holding a bouquet of flowers, over a 0, 14 cm metal support with leaves details. Around the flowers, there are flowers and leaves, as well as on the three pendants, which are 0, 05 cm each, right below the angel. The metal chain is 0, 15 cm long and has small blue balls, The closing is buoy style.

Tunic made of pure silk muslin in black, with tiled silk in circle shapes in jaguar pattern and a priest collar with a black plastic button and button holes. The piece has a slight frill on the bust, shoulder sleeves, on the wrists and on the back’s peak. The wrists have a shiny plastic button closing and buttonholes. The sleeves have patchless armholes. The hem is rounded with an opening on the sides. The hem’s finishing is made in overlock stitching and the hemline’s seam is hand made.

Werner chiffon dress, with an edged skirt, with a patterned print in: black, orange, white and beige. Has a V neck cleavage on the front and back and half sleeves with a peak at the height of the elbows. There is a peak at the front in a V cut. The dress has two different types of linings, both in black: the skirt is made of chiffon crepe and the top part in pure silk. Closing at the back with a bracket and a black polyester zipper. Inside the piece, at the height of the shoulders, there is a metal snap button with on part stuck to the piece and the other to a strap sewn to the piece.

Long navy blue chiffon dress, with a patterned print of daisies and stripes in: yellow, green and white. The piece is a chemise with a bow on the cleavage and a simple crease at the bottom part. The bust has a classic vertical peak on the front coming out of the shoulders, front and back. The sleeves have an elastic at the sleeves, as well as a little above them, which makes them slightly frowned. The dress’ lining is made out of a different fabric, in navy blue. The closing of the piece is located on the front, with a bracket and a 0, 39 cm navy blue polyester zipper. The dress has a belt lined with the same pattern, with a clasp latch.

Long dress made of silk devoré, with make up a polka dot motif, half sleeves, a frown made with elastic at the wrists and a V cleavage. Has ruffles on the cleavage and hem. The front closing has 4 buttons lined with the same fabric. Has two internal shoulder pads. The black lining is sewn at the waist.

Long dress, made of tiled black silk and long sleeves. Sleeves with a frown on the shoulders, straight V cleavage, slightly rounded. Hems and wrists are hand sewn, with the hem having a gimp thread. Closing at the back with brackets and a 0, 53 cm zipper. On the inside, there is a metal snap button at the height of the shoulders with a part being stuck to the piece and another on a strap sewn to the piece.

Long dress made of pure black silk muslin, with tiled silk in circle shapes, with a leopard pattern. A-line cut with 2 pleats on each side, which open at the height of the waist. The long sleeves have a frown on the wrists, which have a closing made of three darkened metal buttons, with “Zuzu Angel” written on them, with simple button holes. The collar is lifted. The closing is located at the front with a bracket and a0, 39 cm metal zipper. The hem’s finishing is made of overlock stitching and the hemline’s seam is hand made, as well as the internal finishing. The lining is made in a different fabric (being checked) in black, being sewn to the waist and 0, 22 cm shorter than the dress’ height, with the hem being hand sewn with a red thread. Has a belt with a metal latch, covered by a black acrylic button. The fabric is from the Werner factory. The belt is 0, 3 cm tall and 0, 68 cm wide.
